Dear reader.
During the 19th century many people wanted change and they advocated for different governing systems. Two of these systems were socialism and nationalism. Although these systems had different values and hopes, there are similarities in their overall visions. Both nationalism and socialism wanted to bring the people together. In all the systems, some citizens benefit while others didn't benefit as much. In the Mayan rebellion the Mayans only benefited for a small amount of time until the creoles took over the Mayan villages and land. In socialism, the society as a whole benefits more than the individuals. In nationalism a select group benefits while the society as a whole does not experience as many benefits. During the rebellion in India, the Indians benefited because they achieved independence. Another similarity among the visions is they were all started by the people as revolutions against the current government systems, regardless of whether they were successful or not. In the caste war of the Yucatán, the revolution was by the Mayans against the creoles. In socialism the revolution was by the socialist advocates against the capitalistic system. For European nationalism, there were many movements and revolutions such as the Goudhi coup. During the rebellion in India the revolution involved the people revolting against the British rule.
I decided to publish theses stories to inform 19th century citizens about the need for change. The people have many hopes for the future that they wish to implement and it Is important that all the citizens stay updated with these hopes so they too can advocate for their own dreams. I hope to instigate change!
